In the Euro Area, the Markit Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index measures the performance of the manufacturing sector and is derived from a survey of 3,000 manufacturing firms. National data are included for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, the Republic of Ireland and Greece. Euro Area Services PMI The Eurozone Services PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) is based on data collected from a representative panel of around 2,000 private service sector firms. National services data are included for Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Republic of Ireland. Euro Area Composite PMI. In the Euro Area, the Markit Eurozone PMI Composite Output Index tracks business trends across both the manufacturing and service sectors, based on data collected from a representative panel of over 5,000 companies (60 percent from the manufacturing sector and 40 percent from the services sector). Euro area manufacturing PMI data was announced in November. In the published data set, Italy manufacturing PMI was 47.6 and France manufacturing PMI was 51.7. The index was 56.9 for Euro Area. All data was above expectations.
